"Good hotel, bad staff"

The hotel is OK, but the staff who was working on Aug.2nd and 3rd while I check in is not polite enough and is unwilling to provide assistance. I was told the reservation I made through Hotels.com was cancelled inexplicably, so I had to accept a room which is much more expensive during my stay. I am very upset with this experience expecially when I check with Hotels.com, I found my reservation was still there validly, but I was charged twice.
