"We chose the Greatt Hotel for its location - 1 block from the Shilin Night Market (one of the best in Asia) and close to the Shilin train station - straight shot to CKS Memorial and convenient 15-minute bus to National Palace Museum. It is a bit spartan, but the rooms are clean and the bathroom was great. Reception was very nice and useful but did not speak English - the use of Google Translate solved all problems. I definitely recommend this hotel."

"May be just A.I. machine asking for review, so didn't find out why I stayed at 2 hotels < Papa Whale Taipei >, on 30/1 & 31/1>. I wonder Hotel.com actually had any site visit. So far, this booking was Not pleasant and even felt little not safe. Front desk lady was nice but all others was far from expectations. "

Like other Expedia reviewers mentioned, after I pre-paid for the bookings, they placed a hold of hundreds (USD$, under the name Starbeauty Hotel Taipei) in my credit card without my prior consent and awareness. "We had a great room with large tub and steam shower. Spa with hot and cold seating areas and hot sauna and steam with shower in side to cool as needed. Steam room smelled so nice. All staff , front desk, bar and spa area were very kind and helpful. "

"Good hotel in the suburbs of Taipei. The area is not touristic but if you want to see the real Taiwan is a nice place to stay. Metro station is just 2min away and you find plenty of places to eat. The hotel is super clean, rooms are very good size and bed is comfortable. The area is very quiet so you will have a good sleep. The staff of polite and ok. Taking the metro will take you very quick to the main attractions "
