Negatives: Hotel under construction; feels dilapidated, room doors not sealed causing high humidity in room, dust/dirt present throughout room and in some electrical outlets, breakfast sparse and served late, coffee machines produced poor tasting coffee, hotel walkways not cleaned frequently; sand present throughout, room door needed to be pulled hard to properly lock, no outside showers for pool, no outside faucet to wash sand off from beach.

The room was clean and the one issue that we did have, with the toilet being clogged on check in, was addressed immediately. Breakfast was decent the day I tried it and desk staff were very friendly! My only criticism would be the overwhelming smell of pot smoke once someone checked into the room next to us, the entire floor smelled at one point, had I been staying longer I would have asked to be moved to another room. To each their own, people are free to do what they want but it stinks plain and simple and it’s supposed to be a no smoking property, so I guess places need to enforce that more.

The carpet in the room was filthy and the tile floors were dirty. I was pretty sure i paid and requested a beach front room but got a pool view instead. Breakfast was not very good … eggs had no taste, sausage was salty, toaster did not toast. The washer broker while we were washing a load. We had to go to another off site laundry facility. No refund was given for our load of wash The only good thing was i double booked the hotel and they resolved it for me.

This was a solid choice for us for our short stay in The Outer Banks with our dog. The hotel has some visible wear, if you're expecting fancy and new you will be disappointed. However, renovations appear to be in process and the place has serious potential! Staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and gave some excellent recommendations of local places to check out (we especially loved American Pie across the street!). Location is excellent and there are plenty of places within walking distance. We greatly appreciated the amenities with the beach access, free breakfast, and the fenced dog area. We did have a small problem with our room during our stay, but staff took care of it as soon as the issue was brought to their attention. With it being a dog friendly place, there are a lot of other dogs. Our dog is fairly non-reactive to other dogs so it was not an issue for us, but be aware if your dog is easily stressed by other dogs and their noises. Overall, a great choice for us and we'd return if we traveled back to the area!

Unannounced renovations that started at 9am. Drilling, grinding and sawing. Sounded like it was right underneath me. Shower faucet was coming off the wall and leaking. Tub didn't drain well. I alerted the front desk to the issue after my first shower on the first morning of my stay and it never was fixed. Room was fine other than that.
