Old roadside America quaintness with none of the faux luxury of the chains. It is a good place to stay on a budget.. Look up old postcards of the Rose Lane Motel in Galax for a better view.

This trip was business and was a little off the beaten path; however, for the price and I couldn't beat it. The room was very clean and extremely quiet. The beds were comfortable. Excellent room for the price.

It was like rolling into a 1950's movie set. It's actually from that era, but kept up nicely. The owner greeted us with a warm, friendly welcome. Our room was clean, sparkling clean! The bed was comfortable, although not too firm. It was quiet and we had a nice, easy feeling about the place.

I was surprised how large the room was for a budget motel. Plenty of floor space, rather than just pathways through the room. I had more than enough space to lay out and organize my gear. While hotel was old and rather outdated, it was very clean and comfortable. It was quiet and covenient location. Very pleasant staff. Good value for the low price. Just what we needed at the time.

For our needs as cyclists riding the New River Trail it was a great deal. This was basic lodging at a fair price within a mile of the trailhead. We learned to take quick showers, because the hot water didn't last forever. It beat camping out in a cold March rain.

The room was ok. The beds were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was snacks and ok. The orange juice wasn't Florida juice as we are used to. It was what we wanted as a place to basically sleep. I would say for the price it was well worth it.

All rooms open to a view of the town with the mountains in the background. This is the second visit to this hotel, and both experiences were fine. We had our dog, and I didn't know if the room would smell like animals when we requested a pet friendly room, but it didn't. And the price is awesome. The hotel is pretty run down, not very clean, old, the toilet broke down, we had to move to another room. The beds are unbelievably small! They gave us a double bed for 2 persons!!! Served its purpose. Bed linens were clean with no bed bugs. We just wanted a clean place to crash after cycling the New River Trail. Great views from the upper level, overlooking the town. Wireless internet never really worked - the only detraction. Will use this hotel again for our next cycling trip to Galax.

The rooms were quite old-fashioned, but well-maintained and CLEAN! Very comfortable bed. The motel was in a quiet location. We had to drive to our restaurant, but most places are like that. Excellent rates at this time of year. The staff were courteous and helpful.

Great hotel for the money. It's not a 5 star by any means but who needs it? Around 50 a night total price for a weekend rate. Very satisfied and I would stay there again if I return to the area.

Overall great. Sink area had slightly dank smell but this was not a real problem. Typical A/C noise and quite noisy bath fan on the same wire as the light, so no tranquility in the bathroom. The room was musty smelling and the bathroom was so dirty my wife refused to use the shower. We were overjoyed to get out of there as soon as possible.

Rooms were clean, beds fairly comfortable. Would have liked a few extra bars of soap as they only put one in the room for everyone and a few extra towels would have been nice. Overall nice place when looking for someplace close to town and reasonably priced.

Billboard advertised free breakfast and there was none. Brochure in room talked about the swimming pool which ahd been filled in with dirt. For a couple of nights stay it was not too bad. Competing with other hotels this one is lucky to still be open. The towels were stiff and thin. We had just what we needed and nothing extra.

There has been minimal investment in maintenance and refreshing the decor. Marginally worth the low rate.

We have used this hotel for business (music festivals) a couple times and it is convenient and always clean. Nothing luxurious but all we needed, a clean bed to sleep in, a safe environment, overall comfortable.

While the hotel is outdated, we still had a relaxing stay. The room was spotless. The owner put us on the top level right in the middle. There weren't many people staying, so it was really quiet. The view and price can't be beat.

I was skeptic at first about getting this room, but for the price its not a bad deal at all. Rooms are nice and clean with nice beds and comfortable pillows. People at the desk were nice. We wanted a bargain, cycling-distance close to the New River Trail - half mile. Room was clean enough, bed not great, pillows poor. Nothing luxurious, but better than camping. Room was plenty large enough for us to put our 2 bikes inside. Did not need A/C or heat - just fan, so can't comment. The Knights Inn motel is a no frills motel. It is close to downtown Galax and it is reasonably priced. If you need a no frills place to stay, this is a fine motel for that. The manager is very nice.

This is an older motel with spacious rooms. The clerk was friendly. Breakfast was cereal, coffee, juice and sweet sixteen donuts. The view was beautiful, overlooking the small town of Galax. They even had a street festival, a back to school event for the town and gave away prizes, food and had bounce houses for the kids. I've stayed here now twice. If you are just wanting an economical place to lay you head this place is adequate. I stayed here two nights for the price of one night else where. It is close to the old town of Galax and only seven miles off the Blueridge Parkway. I will probably stay here again when I am in the area just because of the price.

I had seven rooms booked. They were all pre-paid. It took over an hour to check us all in. The lobby had a horrible smell. The rooms themselves were OK. The local police were at the hotel twice on Sunday making a drug bust in a room just down from us. It shows a nice pool in front. It is full of sand...
