Hotel Pausania is s lovely building with lots of character. The staff were very welcoming and the room was a good size for a single. I'm hoping to return to Venice and this would be my choice of hotel. NB Not for review purposes but for hotel.com - Im a single woman travelling alone - that should be in above options !

This is way far from where you want to be in Venice. San Marco is the place to stay. Nothing was open, and the cost of the water taxi, is about $50 U.S. pp for 2 days. The room was nice. The breakfast was bland. The staff was great. I would not stay there again with kids ages 17 and 19. Nothing near by to do.

Lovely hotel in Venice that doesn't look like an ordinary hotel in front of a canal. Beautiful glass chandeliers and frescoes were present not only in the common areas but in our room. Friendly and helpful staff. Our room was elegantly furnished and very clean. We would definitely go back.

I have been coming to Dorsoduro for many years, and have stayed at several small hotels in the area. This was my first visit to La Pausania. The staff was courteous, and the room was adequate, but not special; however, a real Venetian aura make this place an above average option if you're looking to stay in what I think is the most comfortable and accessible […] part of Venice. I would like to comment on the staff. One younger Asian man was very helpful and polite. An older lady who checked us out was annoyed by our presence and failed to a) offer help while we were carrying our suitcases over an old, crooked and cracked stair case, and b) failed to inform us that the water buses were on strike. The hotel is "cheaper" by Venice […] standards but it is way out of the way and I felt the nearby houses were leaving too little of breathing space. We would strongly recommend to people to take a look at the Lido island which offers way cheaper accomodations of a much higher quality. I have been to Venice three times and Hotel Pausania was a disappointment. The pictures on their website do not look like any room we received. Our room was very small with no windows except a skylight. There was no place to put our clothes except a small closet for hanging clothes. There was no desk or place for a laptop. There is no lift in this hotel […] so be prepared to climb stairs. We also had a mosquito problem in our room. The front desk manager was very unfriendly. The night shift gentleman was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was small and one had to almost climb over the toilet to get to the floor or tub. The tub is also very slippery and the shower was like showering in a mist. We loved the location of the hotel and the fact it had old Venice charm, but the rooms were disappointing small and not functional The breakfast was decent by Venice standards, but the view of the yard was un-kept and disappointing. Older hotel but clean and well maintained. Bathroom was recently remodeled, but not a lot of water pressure or hot water. 15 minute walk from the bus station and train stop. Very nice area of Venice that isn't too touristy. Has two neighboring squares that are great to hang out in day or night. WiFi signal was good and the included breakfast was limited […] but filling. One computer downstairs that is free for use. Two nice lobby areas to relax. The Hotel is well located has a lot of character but no lift and a steep and charming stair to access the upper floors. Staff were polite but not 'friendly'. Only complaint is they advertise "free internet for all guests" what this means is a dated PC in the lounge which you have to queue to use. The web browser is proprietary and limits web access […] - Google Calender stated that the browser was 'incompatible'. Wi Fi is available but at 3 Euros for 30 min or 5 Euros for an hour which I thought was unreasonable. The staff were keen to point out that their publicity was correct and the did offer 'free internet'. Situated in a peaceful street, a stone's throw away from 2 lovely squares to enjoy your evenings. We chose this hotel for its quirkiness and the fact there was a garden area - a bonus in a city. We were met by a middle-aged, stern receptionist with no customer service skills whatsoever, unlike the younger lady the following day who was most pleasant. […] The rooms were exceptionally clean and cool with the air-con (a must in the 44 degree heat) and well maintained by the lovely cleaning staff who we met every morning. Our view was of the courtyard where the neighbours were sitting in their PJ's And now we come onto the breakfast room. What can I say?!?!?!? The poor young lad who we nicknamed "Manuel" (think Fawlty Towers) just couldn't cope by himself with clearing tables, fetching crockery, cutlery, food - poor lad! What were the owners thinking having 1 person do everything in mid-August? We actually found it all very funny and started clearing tables ourselves as we are perfectly able bodied, however, some people were not impressed and refused to sit down until the already-stretched young lad and wiped away a few croissant crumbs! Some people, honestly! The breakfast room overlooked the garden which was in dire need of a sprinkle and TLC - don't expect it to look like the pictures. It was a very pleasant, if not unusual, stay overall. I found the hotel to be quite comfortable. It had the best breakfast in italy. The interior design of the hotel gave it an elegant but quiet atmosphere. Close to water taxi and a reasonable walking distance to train station when you know where you are going. Just down the street from Da Vinci museum. I would stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful, an old 14th century noble palace. It's not huge but nothing is in Venice! The staff are lovely and so helpful, the only small issue was the kettle did not plug in, but apart from that our stay was lovely. I would definitely stay here again. The room was nice and nice bathroom facility. Breakfast was what you would expect and plenty of coffee. Internet service was lacking. Slow Internet computer for guest. We found this to be true for the places we stayed in Italy though. Very nice hotel.

The hotel is difficult to find, there should definitely be a sign outside, all it says is HOTEL which even that is hard to find. We arrived early evening and were warmly welcomed. Our room was on the 3rd floor, which was a bit of a hike, especially as there's no lift, but it was quiet, warm and very clean and spacious. There's a kettle, cups etc, which no one previously mentioned and you can top up on milk, coffee etc at breakfast and keep it in the cold bar in your room. The […] balcony area is great for a smoke and has a lovely view. The hotel is in a good location, easy walking for all the sights. If you go left over the bridge into the large square there's a cheap and cheerful restaurant with a good selection called 'Dickens'? when you leave check out the bus station route- it's only 15 minutes slow walk with cases and better than paying 13 euros on the 30 minute boat ride. We had a brilliant time, the hotel added to our experience, it is pretty, comfortable and friendly. There's a delightful gelato shop "GROM" just round the corner that serves divine gelato n hot chocolate! It is a traditional hotel with furniture that is a little aged, but the cleanliness is very well maintained. Do note that even though it is mentioned that there is complimentary Internet access under the rooms description, it doesn't mean you are able to access Internet in the room. It just means you have free access to their Internet point, a desktop located in the lobby (there were some technical glitches while I was there). Otherwise Internet is charged at 5 euros per half hour. Another point to note: I visited Venice in the first week of December and many shops were closed. I absolutely recommend this hotel. The neighborhood is quiet but convenient. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is VERY helpful. They organized a FREE trip to Murano for us: sending a free private water taxi to come pick us up and take us to a glass-blowing demonstration. They also make all new guests a "welcome drink" on their first night […] - absolutely delightful. Map the course from […] P Roma to the hotel if you intend to carry your luggage; no matter which way you go, you will go over at least 4 bridges. As you approach the hotel, don't be put off by the occasional graffiti and appearance of places being closed up--at no point was there any concern for our safety. Downstairs lounge area (the one near the bar of drinks) had foul odor of raw sewage so we did our meetups in the upstairs lounge area---our only complaint, but forgiven bc we are aware of the ancient sewer system of Venice and its accompanying problems. There is a store very close for sandwiches and drinks.
