I use the Rick Steve travel journals a lot and this hotel absolutely should have been on his list of recommended hotels! It’s a true gem! From the warm, helpful staff to the glorious monestary details, the hotel was a delight. Lovely rooms with the rare air conditioning, great bathrooms, delicious and extensive breakfast, and ideal location….it was above and beyond an absolute delight!

Comfortable room with basic amenities in a converted convent. Property had (limited) car parking close by. Location was within easy walking distance of city centre, which has a vast array of places to eat and drink. I would recommend Pizzaria Tufo in the Piazza del Campo.

We stayed for a month and got to know the staff well. The staff was excellent – Ester and Gvantsa at the front desk were a big help in suggesting places to eat, helping with reservations and directions. They were very friendly and even helped us as we continued to learn the Italian language. Breakfast was wonderful – Valentina and Yousra were friendly and always had our morning cappuccino ready for us. They were accommodating on those occasions when we required an early breakfast. Ester, Gvantsa, Valentina and Yousra made us feel like family and we were sad to leave them after a month’s stay. A couple of things to know about the property: there is no elevator and just a few rooms on the ground floor so you will likely have to walk two or three flights of stairs. And there is no air conditioning before May 1st. When we first arrived in April, it was hot and we longed for the air conditioning. But we were provided with an oscillating fan that cooled off the room. The location is great – it is a ten-minute walk to Il Campo – and the property is beautiful. We highly recommend Il Chiostro del Carmine.
