The De Soto experience was mediocre at best. The condition of the hotel and rooms shows excessive wear. Banged up elevators, peeling paint on furniture in the room, grease on the wall around the balcony door, mildew in the caulking around the shower, and dented and gouged floor floors in the room to name a few. The hotel is showing its age. The pool area was dirty and pool furniture was falling apart.

A bit dated - my room 305 was loud by the elevators, could hear doors slamming all morning and housekeeping knocked before ten. The front desk at check in was very nice and gave me great local recs. Good location and parking was easy as I lucked out on a nearby street parking space.

A tried and true gem of Savannah! This property is located in the middle of the historic district and easy to get into/out of off using Interstate I-16. Also quick walking to Savannah’s 4&5-star dining establishments(The Old Pink House on Abercorn Square; Vic’s on The River - 26 Easy Bay St.; and the venerable B. Matthew’s down on East Bay - for the best brunch, easy on the wallet, in Savannah/Chatham Co.). The hotel is an older, historic property that has been upgraded, but it did not loose it’s original charm. Their service is impeccable and is worth the price, even on busy Savannah weekends. Enjoy!

Hotel is perfectly located and within walking distance to everything. Contemplated between river street and historic district and was very happy with our decision to stay in historic district as it was much quieter, better restaurants and shopping and 10 minute walk to River street so best of both worlds. Hotel staff was amazing arranged everything we needed including transportation and entertainment. Allowed early check in and late check out. Staff was so friendly greeting us everyday like we were family. Hotel room was clean and comfortable and serviced daily which was a major plus and pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend and stay here again.

My husband and I have traveled to Savannah many times and decided to give this hotel a try since it’s close to many of our favorite spots. We realized quickly upon checking in that we had made a mistake. While the lobby was beautiful, the room left much to be desired. It looked somewhat bare and run down and the floor was covered in oatmeal cookies crumbs that the guests before us had enjoyed and were never swept. We returned to the front desk where they were very apologetic and offered us free breakfast the next morning, two free drinks and a different room. We gladly excepted the offer and moved to our new room! At first glance, this room looked much better. After dinner, we get ready for bed and the real fun began. As mentioned in other reviews, which I read in the middle night while I couldn’t sleep, the air conditioner made a clicking sound every 90 seconds. This, along with the extremely uncomfortable bed, made for a VERY long night. After many long hours, I decided to get up and get ready for the day. After entering the bathroom and closing the door, I found feces smeared on the back of the bathroom door. By this point, I had enough and my husband went to chat with management. While they were very nice and offered a refund for the rest of the time we were supposed to be there, I have never been as disappointed in a hotel. Think twice before booking. Savannah is such an amazing city with so many wonderful places to stay. I highly recommend NOT staying at the De Soto!
