Chateau de Nazelles was a lovely place to stay and use as a base for seeing a few Chateaus within 40 minutes. The owners and their staff were especially friendly and offered very thoughtful hospitality. Our accommodations were unique and very comfortable. Just be careful making the turn into the Chateau - it is very narrow and the large stones that have been there a long time are not forgiving. Our rental car didn't have a great turning radius so this was something we really needed to watch...
This place is fantastic. Built into the rock in the 1700's and was updated in 2002 by the current owners. The swimming pool at the top with the suana and changing rooms is breathtaking.
I had stayed here about 20 years ago. This time we stayed in on of the petit rooms which was more than adequate for the two of us. The staff was very accommodating with helping with dinner reservations since the chateau was totally booked for the next two nights. We had great Dionne's in Amboise. A table opened up due to a cancelation our second night. We had an excellent dinner with very attentive service.
We stayed 15 days in France and this was our favorite hotel.. Room was exceptional staff was fantastic with excellent Wifi and Free Parking.We just loved this hotel. This is 5 stars plus..
Now the downside.. The Parking is horrible. You need to almost be a stunt driver to even get into the gate of the hotel. A sub compact barely fits. I suggest they somehow expand the parking so the cars easily fit into the gate and lot.
Manoir de Basses Rivieres is a hidden gem! The property is lovely, beautifully maintained, serene, and fascinating. Be sure to explore all of the caves which are on the grounds, which have been utilized since Troglodytes lived in this area. Guillaume and Arthur are gracious hosts, and the rooms are elegantly and thoughtfully appointed. Unbelievably perfect place to stay! Note: Be sure to reach out to them directly before your arrival, as accessing the hotel is a bit tricky.

This boutique hotel is nestled in the heart of Amboise. Our room was spacious with a newly renovated bathroom. It was quiet and very clean. The housekeeper freshened the room every day and did a nice job. Breakfast was lovely with cappuccino, fresh juices, hot breakfast, and cold. I liked the fresh fruit that was cut up. Beautiful hotel a few kilometers off the main road between Blois and Amboise and surrounded by open fields and green grass. This was the nicest room of our trip (and most expensive). We had dinner two nights at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed both tremendously. Excellent food and generally excellent service, not to mention watching the cows roaming back and forth beyond the windows. This hotel was a bit remote, but still close to Amboise. I doubt we would have found it without our navigator, but what a loss it would have it would have been had we not. The modern facility was immaculate, and the room was spacious beyond belief. But the real surprise was the dinner... I believe the best we'd experienced in our three weeks of travel throughout France. (By all means, order the cod.)

La Maison Rabelais is in the heart of Amboise – well-located and nearly everything is an easy 5-10 minute walk, though the train station is on the other side of the river by 1.5 mi, necessitating a ride. Very nice breakfast – hearty and copious. While the property does NOT have A/C, the room (big and spacious) stayed cool however the ventilation system was configured.
