"My partner and I had a great time here. Loved the half board and the environment. It is remote but easy to get to as long as you pay attention to the bus schedule and plan ahead. It’s only a 15 mins bus ride from the Kumatori station. It’s a great escape from the city and late night emergency siren. The view from the room was stunning. Cherry blossoms were right outside the window within reach. The staff was friendly despite the language barrier. Communication about the shuttle service was clear. It might have been nicer if the shuttle service information was also shared and open for booking by email or Expedia chat box 2 days before the check in day, so we could have taken their shuttle. My favorite thing about this ryokan was that they have a lot of cute kimonos to choose from for ladies instead of everyone wearing the same style :) "

"The room was clean and large. The food was excellent and the monks were friendly and helpful. The grounds and facility was beautiful. We were blessed with a fresh snowfall to make it even more beautiful. Keep in mind if you go in the winter, even though your room is toasty warm, the halls are not. So any walking to dinner, a ceremony, THE BATHROOM, is all in freezing temperatures and I never got hot water from the tap to wash my hands with. "

"Absolutely a superb experience here. The room was stunning and the food top notch. There is clearly so much care and attention here. It was lovely to be able to attend the morning ceremony as well. Highly recommend it. I'll be coming back for sure."

"Beautiful hotel, the monks attending are really nice, definitely go to the morning ceremony, it is worth it. This is near everything and very centric to all the landmarks nearby. The "beds" are pretty hard since its traditional, but its manageable for a night or two. Meals were really good, definitely don't skip them and take the chance to eat traditional monk meals. "

"Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage. I highly recommend Kohechi hikers to stay at this hotel."
