"This castle was absolutely lovely. The staff were amazingly friendly and the rooms were very nice and welcoming. We walked the grounds and saw some nice views. I highly recommend the castle dining room. The food was amazing!"

"Beautiful views, excellent food and really lovely staff. After checking in, I ordered food from the restaurant staff. The gentleman who took my order (his name may have been Nigel, his hair was in a ponytail), was so pleasant and his smile was genuine, something that in turn made me smile, not easy after a 30 hour working day. The room was also lovely with views towards Edinburgh and I hadn’t booked anything fancy. In the morning, the buffet breakfast was great with lots of fresh food being brought out by some more lovely staff. I’ve never left a review before so I hope it means something to someone reading this. If I have to stay in Edinburgh again, I’ll be hoping I can get a room here."

"Gorgeous castle close to Edinburgh! So far the main areas are renovated and they are stunning. The aesthetic blends castle feel (gold mirrors, beautiful wooden buttresses, textured wallpaper) with fabulous modern touches (lighting and tiling). We stayed in suite 27 and it had luxurious touches throughout (copper bathtub, double headed shower, new tiling, beautiful new bed) mixed with remnants of the castle feel (tapestry headboard and ancient well (secured) . The bar was classy and had a wide array of wine and full bar on display. The dining room was gorgeous and we had a phenomenal dinner and breakfast. The library is a great spot to read and has a hidden whiskey room. Ask for the castle tour! So glad we stayed here!"

"I found returning here after 15 years to be a sad form of nostalgia. We used to come here in the late 90's as a large family group and have so many fond memories of this place. We remember having a grand evening dining experience with a man in a kilt waiting for us at the top of the grand staircase, and adults dressing in their fine clothes for the evening meal while children would eat in the Bannockburn room. Things have changed, and while I accept there is a need to modernise things, the whole soul of this place has gone now. The state of disrepair of the property is very obvious, but what was sad is that I felt some of the repairs would be very simple to do. We paid just under £300 for our rooms and feel this was completely out of line with the experience. Our balcony which was 2 floors up was literally crumbling apart and had caution tape on it to suggest 'don't lean here'. This is completely unacceptable for a room at this price. The old fashioned but classy feel of the rooms have been replaced with a soulless modern chich vibe and it was all just quite depressing. One of the ceiling lights in my room wasn't even working and the room felt bare with two cheap sofas stuck in the middle to fill the space. There was peeling paint work and rotten wood everywhere and a general sense of 'we don't care anymore'. At 10pm my room was freezing. I called 3 times and went in person to reception to resolve this. The heating never came on and I slept the night COLD."

"Good sized room, we were surprised how roomy it was, place was clean but there is room for improvement. Breakfast was ok nothing special just avarage. Paying extra for parking on the top is ridiculous especially the rate they charging. Overall We would stay again: good facilities like spa and pool, lovely bar and nice staff."
