The hotel is next to the castle ruins and the surrounding area is great for walking or running. There are a few modern touches (sunrooms, metal railings on balcony) that take away from the castle feel, but overall a great stay. The registration and restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly.
I only stayed one night but the hotel was very comfortable. I will stay again when I'm in the area. Jens was working in the morning and he was very helpful.

This is a really nice place to stay and I would highly recommend it.
Really great spa and pool, room, and food. Some important details: no spa admission after 8 pm, it reopens at 10 in the morning. Restaurant kitchen closes after 8 pm too, but they still serve drinks and charcuterie. Some staff spoke English and it was helpful because the receptionist did not. Also the credit card machine at the reception wouldn't process Hotels.com charges in dollars (but the restaurant's card reader can do it)
This hotel is located in Freyburg and offers a spectacular view over the Unstrut valley in the Saale-Unstrut wine region. You can enjoy some of the local wines on the large, tree-lined terrace. The food in the on-site restaurant was excellent, for breakfast as well. The decor is slightly dated, from the 1990s. But overall, this hotel is uniquely situated and an excellent value.
