"First of all the location on Google maps is the restaurant that the owners run and not yours accommodation so it's important when you book to follow their joining instructions. The owners are very friendly and helpful, giving you a quick brief on all there is to see and do in jiufen before taking you to your place. "Okay walking distance from the train station, but check-in was terrible. I didn’t receive any details until standing outside on a rainy day trying to figure out how to call a local phone number, which was eventually answered by someone who only speaks Chinese. After an awkward minute on the phone they hung up, but a few minutes later I finally got instructions on how to get inside. The staircase inside is very tight and carrying suitcases up is quite difficult. Once inside, the room is clean...
