The staff was very welcoming and more than helpful. When we found ourselves in a bind because we needed fuel and the only service stations open were automated (which don't accept American credit cards), the hostess went with us and used her personal credit card to get us on the road again. (We paid her back with cash.)

Chateau De Maraval was just the castle experience we wanted from the medieval region from France. We were on a girl's trip and were provided two rooms that were beautifully furnished and stocked up.
All the interiors was tastefully done. Outside of the castle is medieval but the rooms were with modern amenities. It was like living the best of two worlds. The property is well maintained. We spent 4 nights at the lovely Petit Manoir in the Josephine Baker room. The facilities were great, large bedroom and bath, lots of storage room for clothes, location couldn’t be beat, and historic ambiance was everywhere. Nice hotel, great view out of our window, wonderful dinner (get the lamb), helpful concierge. Breakfast was problematic, overworked waiter who could not keep straight which customers he should serve next. So, despite being there earlier than most we were served later than some who came after. Parking and driving the tight cobblestone road is also no fun but that is to be expected and comes with the territory. All in all a wonderful stay in a wonderful place. One night is sufficient.
This is a gorgeous manor house in the heart of the Dordogne Valley next to the river. The views are spectacular and the gardens are beautiful. Be sure to get the breakfast because it is a feast of local flavors. Wonderful hosts who can make excellent dining recommendations. Worth the money for a once in a lifetime experience.
This out of the way small hotel is amazing The gardens are lovely, along the river and old bridge, and the restaurant truly special. It’s close to Rocamadour and other sites.

But what was also remarkable was that the staff was not only friendly, but also went above and beyond to help us figure out transportation during a train strike.
