Zadar Old Town captivates with Roman ruins, medieval churches, and innovative installations like the Sea Organ playing melodies as waves hit the shore. History buffs will love St. Donatus Church's circular walls and Byzantine mosaics in marble-paved squares. The Sun Salutation disc creates a magical light show at sunset along the waterfront promenade. Traditional konobas serve fresh Adriatic seafood while artisan shops sell handmade jewelry and Croatian wines from medieval stone buildings. The car-free neighborhood is perfect for wandering honey-colored streets that open onto spacious squares. Boutique hotels in converted historic palaces offer authentic stays with original architectural elements.

Borik
Borik serves up beachy perfection along Zadar's stunning Adriatic coastline. Crystal-clear waters lap against pebble beaches where you can soak up the Croatian sunshine all day. Pine-shaded walking paths wind along the waterfront, offering dreamy sunset views that'll have your social media followers swooning. Resort life rules here with plenty of pools, water sports, and coastal relaxation. Hotels dominate this seaside haven with upscale amenities and international dining options. Arbanasi
Arbanasi offers a peaceful escape from Zadar's tourist crowds with its traditional Mediterranean charm. Stone houses with red-tiled roofs line quiet streets that lead to rocky Adriatic beaches. Kolovare Beach is just steps away, perfect for swimming in crystal-clear waters. Albanian cultural influences are visible in the older buildings, giving this 18th-century settlement its unique character. Family-run konobas serve fresh seafood and regional specialties in this authentic neighborhood. Private apartments and guesthouses provide intimate accommodations with genuine Croatian hospitality. While public transportation is limited, the walk into central Zadar rewards you with beautiful coastal views and a glimpse of local life.

Local konobas serve up home-style Dalmatian cooking at prices that won't break your budget. Family-run guesthouses and private apartments offer mid-range accommodations with genuine Croatian hospitality. While public transit is limited, the quiet streets make for pleasant walks before heading to nearby Preko Harbor or Fort Saint Michael.

Learn more about Zadar
Along the seafront promenade, the Sea Organ plays haunting melodies created by waves pushing air through underwater pipes. Nearby, the Sun Salutation captures daylight and creates a mesmerizing light show after sunset. Roman ruins stand alongside medieval churches in this ancient walled city, where history feels casually abundant. The Cathedral of St. Anastasia towers over narrow limestone streets that open suddenly into sunny squares. Duck into the Museum of Ancient Glass to see delicate Roman artifacts displayed with surprising wit. After exploring Zadar's old town, join locals at sunset when they gather by the sea. The Times didn't call this the "entertainment center of the Adriatic" for nothing.

Falkensteiner Hotel Adriana l Adults Only
"Really peaceful stay. Great pool and sea access. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Easy access into Zadar by bus, water taxi or car. The food was also excellent."
Art Hotel Kalelarga
"Lovely room, well sound-proofed, beautifully decorated, spacious and a good size. Excellent location. Lovely breakfast."
Hotel Porto
"Good staff and good service"
Hotel A'mare
"As other reviewers note the surrounding area isn’t particularly inviting but it didn’t feel unsafe. We walked to and from the hotel including at night. Zadar is still pretty unspoilt and quiet compared to Dubrovnik or Split but more flights year on year bring more tourists with new hotels opening to accommodate them, in areas outside the old town, this being one. It is an easy taxi ride from the airport and 15 mins walking distance from the old town. It was clean and comfortable but our room was very small and quite noisy - could hear toilets and showers in surrounding rooms during the night. Staff were good."
Hyatt Regency Zadar
"Newly opened last year- teething problems seem to have been thoroughly addressed and this is now a smooth 5 star experience from check in to leaving. Lovely rooms, great spa and indoor/ outdoor pool."
Apartments Villa Karla
"We had a very pleasant stay at villa Karla. The host was available and quickly replied and replaced batteries for the tv controller when we arrived. She reminded us to keep the hot water button on. For a couple, the amount of hot water available was good but we did run out at the end for the family of 4. It quickly heats back up again. Great location within walking distance of the old town and there is a local supermarket close by. Would stay again for the convenience and hospitality"
Heritage hotel Bastion
"Hotel Bastion’s location is perfect. Very close to all the main attractions. The staffs are very nice, helpful and informative. The breakfast selection is great and the food at the restaurant is outstanding."
