"Hotel was well located to walk down 17 th and attend the Lilac festival. Gonzalo and Naufil were fantastic to deal with at the front desk. I apologize that I did get the names of the breakfast staff but both days were great and the room was well kept. Thanks to the cleaning staff for making our room comfortable and clean. Only issue was the king bed was extremely firm."

"An amazing place to stay!! Great staff, clean rooms and it’s location is absolutely perfect pretty much for anything your looking for or to do!! Will be back this time next year, and will MOST DEFINITELY be staying here again!! Can’t wait!! Oh, and their breakfast they offer every morning is one of the best and biggest breakfast I’ve had offered to me at any hotel. Thank you for the AMAZING stay!!! See you guys next year!!!"

Sandman Signature Calgary Downtown Hotel

"(1) The hotel structure is elevated from street level, and in order to access the hotel entrance at the corner of 6 Av. SW and 8 St. SW or the side entrance next to parking garage entrance, one has to climb a couple of cement steps. These cement steps are light grey color, which is the same color as the pavements. However, these steps are not marked with a color strip at the edge of each step. On the early morning of June 4th, when my husband exited the entrance at the corner of 6 Av. SW and 8 St. SW, he fell at the steps on his face, bruised his right cheek, and broke the crowns of 3 front teeth, which required significant dental repairs upon returning home. (2) Hotel is situated immediately adjacent to rail tracks on 7 Av. SW for eastbound and westbound Red Line and Blue Line. There were ongoing train noises day and night, and it was difficult to get a full night sleep due to train noises in the early mornings and late nights. (3) All hotel lobby and security staff that we encountered were polite, courteous and helpful. (4) All Moxie’s restaurant employees were cheerful and delightful. We had meals in there 3 times, and foods and service were good."

"Check in was fine. We got back to the room at about 8 pm. The people in the next room were going at it… thought it was one of those hotels were you get charged by the hour when we heard that, had to turn up the tv. carpets were filthy from being old and most likely never washed. The faucet in the shower was loose and leaking. There was dirt in the tub but we didn’t notice it until the next day when my husband went to use it. The window coverings were all loose and falling apart. The night light didn’t work and it was super scratched up and dirty. Beds were fine and sheets clean but was too afraid to check the mattress. We needed a place to stay for the night in Calgary and the demand was ridiculous. We paid $150 for the night . When I checked my CC statement the next day there was a $30 charge from the hotel. I called the and the lady told me that it was from damaged bed sheets??? We slept in the beds, how can we damage sheets? The she said that there was dirt on them and after further questioning she said that there was blood on them. ….i am suspecting my daughter got her period. They charged me $30 for doing laundry. That’s what I get for getting a reasonable priced place with shady people running it. The hotel had ok reviews when I was looking for a place and the good reviews were fake!!! Do not stay at this place or you will be charged for random things that are included in a price of a room."

"Here’s a polished review you could post: We stayed at Alt Hotel University District for one night and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was exceptionally clean, modern, and well-maintained. Our room featured beautiful large windows that let in plenty of natural light, and the temperature control worked perfectly, making for a very comfortable stay. We also appreciated the hotel’s security features, which made us feel safe throughout our visit. The paid underground parkade was convenient and easy to access. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful whenever we had questions. One of the biggest advantages of this location is its proximity to numerous restaurants, shops, and amenities, all within easy walking distance. The hotel was also reasonably priced, offering excellent value for the quality of accommodations and service provided. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Calgary’s University District."
