"An older busy tourist hotel set up for cruisers out of Southampton. A bit tired but we stayed in an executive room. Great location and close to shops."

"We came back to The Star as we stayed here 18 months ago. You simply can’t beat their location. Pubs, restaurants, shopping, old Southampton and its heritage building. And the history of the Titanic. "

"Pleasant rooms / toilet and bath most satisfactory . A big, comfortable kitchen for cooking or just having a snack. Everything was very clean. Also a small garden with some chairs (perhaps a couple more would be good.) Also offered an upgrade so that we (3 sisters) did not need to use the couch. "

"The check in and using the code for the doors is all a bit of a hassle but during check in window there does seem to be staff around to help. It was a good location and clean."

"Was warmly welcomed by the owner, Kara, after I debarked from Royal Caribbean and walked from City cruise terminal. She let me leave my luggage and return to check in. There was no lift, but her husband was kind to bring my bag up to my room before I returned. Room was comfortable and a continental breakfast was included. Stayed two nights before getting on my next cruise. Will stay again! "

"Mattress was so bad, (lumpy) we left early and stayed elsewhere. Room and areas were clean but bare, eg no lampshade. Curtains too thin so the lights of the Dockyard opposite showed through."

"The hotel has a location meant for exploring on foot, which we loved! Pubs and restaurants on Oxford Street were a five minute walk, and the West Quay area about a ten minute walk. The onsite restaurant is lovely, and features live music on Fridays!"
