Nandel Beach Resort
10/10 Excellent
"The service and staff were amazing. This is our third visit and we will be back. The restaurant had great food and the portions are huge. It would be nice if the trash on the beach was cleaned up, There are so many different beach option in the surrounding areas."
Santa Elena Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"This is a beautifully-crafted, very clean hotel. The staff are helpful and kind. Breakfast is cooked to order with beautiful trays of fresh fruit and excellent coffee. The grounds are lovely, and all around are huge, magnificent trees full of many birds. One one side of the hotel is a market, and on the order side is a very good restaurant. There are several beaches nearby, but my favorite beach is a short drive north in the wildlife refuge."
Hotel Punta Descartes
10/10 Excellent
"Charming little hotel at the most beautiful viewpoint in all of Guanacaste. Excellent food and nice and quiet."
Hacienda Casa del Viento
8/10 Good
"All good. Simple room. No stress. Friendly welcoming staff. Nice family business. "
Rancho Costafalo
10/10 Excellent
"Rancho Costafalo is a unique and very special place. It is remote and is situated in an idyllic setting on a large farm with an amazing botanical garden with species of citrus, palms, and rare cacti and a large beautiful pond. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed out two-night stay at the ranch. The accommodations are somewhat rustic, but offer everything we needed, a clean bed, nice bathroom and a pleasant deck. The ranch is about a 20-minute drive from the Santa Rosa National Park, which is well worth a visit for its historic significance and nice paved trails. It is also about 10 minutes from a small town with all the amenities. If you visit, be sure to stop by the tiny De La Abuella restaurant for dinner. Allan, the owners, is nice, friendly and helpful. He was very generous with us because we had forgotten to take cash and he footed the bill for our dinner and we reimbursed him later. We have a place in Guanacaste near Playa Grande. We plan to visit the ranch again the next time we are in the area. Melvin, the attendant at the ranch was very nice, polite and helpful. "
