"The royal hotel was absolutely fantastic, clean hotel, clean room and everything you need. We even booked the facilities for a £6 each day pass which included gym, steam roo , sauna and pool which was brilliant ... The only 2 niggles and they are only niggles was sauna wasn't hot just mildly warm and the pool was really really salty, not with chlorine but salt and tasted absolutely vile if you got it in your mouth and swim gear ended up being white as there was that much in the pool"

"The Grand Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The room (a triple / family room) was clean and convenient. The fans in the room (in the midst of a heatwave) and the water dispenser in reception were great touches. We were initially impressed with the proactive communication prior to our visit. However, the code we were given (twice) for the NCP wouldn't work on arrival and we were told by NCP it had expired in March 2026. On raising this with Barbara at reception, we received a shrug and a recommendation to try to park on the street. It transpired that the code on both emails was wrong. Another slightly baffling interaction occurred when asking a member of the Hotel team for ice to cool down us / our water in the warm room. We were questioned on why we were requesting and what we wanted it for before the team member agreed to provide it. I'm still not clear what the presumed issue was. We didn't eat in the Hotel as it was so conveniently located for some lovely restaurants but enjoyed the in-house entertainment on Friday evening and the fayre on Sunday, both of which were enjoyable."

"The hotel was perfect location for open air theatre 15 min stroll down the hill. Lovely decor in the hotel very clean and fresh looks like it’s had a recent refurbishment. Breakfast nearly perfect just a small recommendation to chef - just cook the sausages a little longer for that golden brown all over. Our only issue was the room was way too small felt a little cramped everywhere and I’m a big chap , felt a bit like a broom cupboard at the top of the hotel. Maybe next time we can be offered a larger room or better options in the booking process. So stay away from Room 34 if your of big build. Overall though very nice place"
