The hotel is fantastic, the pool and the amenities in general are very neat. They offer us a baby crib and the front desk people were fantastic. The only bad side is if you do not speak French it was very difficult to get service at the one restaurant available because no one but the front decal and the manager speak English. I guess if you travel to a country where French is the first languages expected however for the price I would have expected more English friendly service.

Check-in staff was very kind. This was clearly a "3-star hotel", though everything was clean and what I needed for a 1-night stay. Very close to the pedestrian "downtown". <15 min walk to the train station and the big theatre. So a good choice. Critical points: my room was small and 2 people would have been pretty cramped in the room. I found it expensive for what it was and I expected more for the price compared with other hotels in small french cities. Maybe Chalon-sur-Saône is an expensive...

Charming French provincial stone house with big garden - only problem was that check-in normally starts at 4.30pm but the owner very kindly opened up the premises for us at 3.00pm and so we had time to walk to the nearby town of Touros - a mediaeval gem in the heart of Burgundy. Although the churches and a remarkable hospital museum are worth seeing, we were most impressed by the two Michelin-starred restaurants and we ate at Les Terrasses which was absolutely superb.
