"The hotel itself was fantastic. Lovely location. The few days break was spoilt by the manageress at dinner in the restaurant. What a rude and obnoxious person she is. I explained that my daughter doesn't eat a lot due to a medical issue, but when we asked for a takeaway box, she was very demanding and packed complete empathy to our requirements. She made it so uncomfortable, we paid and left. Our waiter was fantastic and apologised for her behaviour. Oh. A restaurant that serves packet Mash!!!"

"We are so pleased we booked the Royal Lion! The location is excellent and you're right in the heart of Lyme Regis. The room we booked (deluxe double room with terrace) was excellent. Clean, welcoming and comfortable. There were extra touches like the selection of teas and coffees as well as biscuits and some cans of water. There was parking at the hotel too. Even though it is a fairly small car park, we always found a space. We ate at the restaurant every evening while we were there. An excellent selection of choices. Full marks! Breakfast was something to look forward to as well. A buffet breakfast as well as a large menu for a cooked breakfast. This was all included in the reasonable fixed breakfast price. All the staff from the minute we checked in were great. Sharon greeted us at reception and advised us about the restaurant and breakfast, as well as the parking. Sending a thank you to the friendly helpful staff in the restaurant and at breakfast, Tom and Abbie! Apologise for forgetting the other names of the staff we met. This is an excellent hotel and we would definitely recommend a stay here"

"My wife and I stayed just one night at the Kings Arms and had an excellent meal and breakfast. Our room was clean and tidy and the en-suite was fine, albeit a little cramped. We had ground floor room 5 and, as is our normal custom, went to bed just before 10:00pm. We then suffered a great deal of noise outside our bedroom windows; singing, shouting and swearing, all coming from the sheltered area just a few metres away. In the end we rang the bar in an attempt to get this stopped, but it carried on until midnight! Such a shame as everything else about the inn was excellent. If you do book a room for an upstairs room at the front of the premises!"

"For £94.50 a night this is a very basic hotel. Room and bed were large and clean, but very sparsely and cheaply furnished. There was a TV and 'fridge. Bathroom was very small, though clean. Amenities? I didn't notice any - no breakfast, no lounge or bar. The other clientele did not inspire one to expect a peaceful or indeed safe night's sleep; though in fairness I enjoyed quiet and restful nights. The hotel is well placed for Taunton station."
