"Our stay here in March 2025 was wonderful. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful, even picked us up from the station without prior arrangement! The food was incredible, traditional Japanese breakfast that set us up for the day and a delicious dinner which when combined with the sake and very comfortable futons ensured a great night’s sleep. Took advantage of the private Onsen which was very relaxing. However with so many public Onsen (including at the hotel) it was a bit of an...

"I had the best shower and bath of my life there, there's a lot of water pressure and very hot, next to the shower is the onsen bath open all night. The staff was a friendly and attentive the installations are beautiful. They Give you are Yukata that you can wear around town to get into the onsens. I made a reservation for the Japanese style breakfast and it was delicious they serve you Tamago Onsen.
Would stay again.
Lovely."

"Room was cold after the oil heater ran out in the middle of the night. The oil heater was not enough for the whole night during the winter time and the hot water in the sink was not working."

"The staff were so hospitable. Our flight was delayed and we didn’t get in for dinner on time. They had it all set for us even though we arrived after dinner service.
The rooms are beautiful, onsen’s lovely and the countryside is beautiful.
If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese experience this is it. "

"We loved our ski holiday at Hotel Takimoto. The all inclusive plan was great - so much included. Meals and drinks were great and plentiful, rooms were comfy, skis and boots were good quality, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in an excellent central location with easy access to the extensive Shiga Kogen ski area. A bonus was being able to ski back to the front door.
Rooms were a little warm as we had to keep them shut to deter monkeys. Would suggest a portable fan be...

"I was surprised why this hotel does not have cuurent reviews and then I found that the majority of customers are local. Only one Chinese staff, Kon, can communicate in English but every staff is very nice and attentive once you figure out the rules. Public onsen fa ility is standard and efficient. Spacious toom must be at least 300 sq.ft. for 2 of us.
Hot Water and temperature are centrally controlled. But if you are after hours you should go to public bath to take a shower. Laundry is inside...

"Lovely property, secluded but good shuttle options to ski field (less than 5 mins) and twice daily to Karuizawa.
Staff were friendly - used Google translate as there were not many western travellers.
Amazing Onsens - all gender seperate apart from private but open 24 hours.
Food was great - and a shop for snacks, souvenirs and drinks.
Great for winding down and experiencing the snow and small field close by."

After visiting Ikaho Shrine, make a plan to see the other sights and activities in Ikaho Stone Steps. Amble around the area's parks or experience its museums.
