What a gem of a Bed and Breakfast (and dinner)! We feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this place -- thanks to Hotels.com. Comfortable, quiet room, air conditioning in the midst of this unexpectedly scorching summer. And some of the best food (both dinner and breakfast) that we had on our entire driving trip. Thoughtful details abound. If you have a chance to stay here, don't miss it!
All desk clerks were courteous and helpful in English. Someone who was apparently the manager was also very nice to us in assisting with breakfast. Property itself was in very good shape.
We chose this hotel based on pictures and on the fact that it was next to the Brive train station and the agency where we were to pick up our rental car next day. It turned out to be a delightful stay. Great staff and the new rooms are wonderful--spacious, modern and comfortable.
We arrived late afternoon and were greeted first by Tokay, the owners' cute lical dog, then by the proprietor who, after rhe usual introduction. asked if we would want dinner and outlined thr menu. When I told him that ine of us was a vegetarian. he immediatel proposed a meatless dish, since he was also rhe chef.

Very nice hotel in Brive. Note that while they have a small private parking area you have to reserve in advance. It wasn’t obvious and when I got there the parking area was full. However there were plenty of paid street parking very close to the hotel and I got a spot right in front. Otherwise very nice hotel and helpful staff.
Truly an amazing place to stay. If you want to stay in a very old hotel, you will not be able to beat this, maybe 800-900 years old? They have put a lot of effort into updating this place to make it work as a hotel. The only effort that was lacking (maybe my view because I'm American) was that the room didn't have AC. Bernadette was an excellent host. Family of 4 was very comfortable in two adjoining rooms. Rooms and bathrooms have all been renovated with modern amenities . Beds were very comfortable.
Host asked us the night before when we would like breakfast, her suggestion for 9:00 am was perfect time. Fresh pastries ( all homemade) yogurt, jams, juice and coffee and chocolate milk for kids, were all ready for us. We enjoyed talking to Bernadette about our travels during breakfast.
