"Lovely design hotel. Every detail was thoughtful and beautiful. Nice amenities. Excellent breakfast. Perfect jumping off point for the Nakasendo trail. (Unrelated to the hotel review but if you are traveling to Nakatsugawa for the first time, tip: book ahead at a restaurant/izakaya for dinner, there are plenty of nice places but many were fully reserved even in a quiet season for tourism) "
"We had a wonderful stay at this bezutiful hotel. It was somewhat remote via train but once there the charm and natural beauty of the area made it all worthwhile. Our room was a suite in traditional Japanese style. It was immaculate with many amenities. The buffet breakfast and dinners were of excellent quality and variety. We can highly recommend the hotel and its most helpful staff. The free shuttle to the station made our departure carefree. Arigato!

"This ryokan was beautiful with a spacious room and great mountain views. The onsen was particularly nice with indoor and outdoor mineral baths, a cold plunge, and a sauna. There was also a private shower in our room if you aren’t interested in the onsen experience. The half board was good but served traditional local Japanese food - great for the adventurous eater but it may not be for everyone. Though I found enough familiar things to feel full at dinner and breakfast. It was a special place, great for relaxation but probably not appropriate for children. We wished we had more days there to soak in the natural surroundings and just relax. "
