So clean and beautiful really enjoy ..

Everything was fine except the parking situation. Valet is not preferable and street parking becomes a problem.

Property is very close to shopping and dining and the shuttle to the casino is great.

For a small family-run motel, this was a little gem. I was lucky to get a room there for my niece's Phd grad at Yale this past weekend. Very comfortable king bed, flat screen TV, great air-con, super shower, fridge, & microwave. I always travel with my own mug, instant coffee & tea, so I was all set. Setting is fresh air country, with flowers & evergreen shrubs around the motel. Office has a Keurig coffeemaker, ice machine, and cold drinks machine. Definitely would stay there again!

For the price everything met expectations. Would stay again.

The Captain Stannard house is a true gem in Westbrook. There are many restaurants, shops, parks, and beaches close by. The property has a private yard and a large rear porch for relaxation. My room was impeccably clean and spacious for being the smallest one in the house. Dianne was incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help all the guests.

On a country road only a 5-minute drive from the fascinating town of Essex on the mouth of the Connecticut River, this is a traditional, handsome setting with excellent service and food. We stayed in one of the newer outer buildings, and our room was spacious and nicely updated. Service was outstanding. Outer buildings an ADA challenge but not the older central inn. We had a great stay.

friendly staff and welcome on arrival, tastefully decorated. comfortable and relaxed. Breakfast could be improved, A place of this caliber, I would expect fresh bread and toast, sweet butter, eggs to order, rather than the packaged food service microwave prepared hash browns, sausage slice and packaged mini quiche tarts. The caned tangerine accented with mint was refreshing. good coffee.

The Grand Lake Hotel didn’t look appealing from the outside, but our room was so cozy! We could see the lawn from our window. The bed, mattress, and AC unit were new. I actually pulled back the sheets and the mattress was clean. The bathroom was outdated, but had a new toilet and clean tiles. The water pressure was amazing! I had read the property reviews before arriving. They weren’t great, so I was a bit worried. All in all, though, we did not find any concerns. Updates would be a bonus for sure. The lobby did have a musty smell, but nowhere else that we went in the building. The breakfast was easy and good. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
