We fell in love with Providence! One example: We shared a table at a cafe with locals who were obviously happy living here and very welcoming! We came away with a really warm feeling about Providence and about the people here.

Gay friendly, artsy, cool downtown area. Great coffee at Little City coffee. Don't bother with chain coffee places. Go try some local shops.

There are a number of homeless people in the neighborhood and many were seen sleeping or socializing in nearby doorways. While none accosted anyone, their presence was unsettling for women. Many women would cross to the other side of the street.

Providence appears mainly safe in the day. Felt a bit unsafe after dark. Expensive area.

The Underwood-Hale House
10/10 Excellent
"Delivering my daughter to grad school we needed an extra special night at the last minute. I was lucky to find the Underwood Hale House had a private modernized apartment available close by solving many of our immediate issues: parking and both of us getting a good night's sleep!
Highly recommend this beautiful, perfectly maintained, property."
"This property was full of charm with wide plank wood floors and comfy bedding. The breakfast was delicious and staff was kind and welcoming. Plenty of parking, which is needed, as you’re up by the highway."
