"Very special rooms and the restaurant is incredible with special game menu. The estate is styled after a hunting lodge,and the sheep farm outside our window was perfect. Picked it since we were traveling from Stonehenge to Windsor palace . It is only 1.7 miles from Highclere Castle but it was closed for shooting for Downtown abbey this week. "

"Stayed at the Coat & Bear while visiting Highclere Castle. I had a room with 2 beds and it was very spacious. The staff was very nice and the food at the pub was delicious. The town of Newbury is very nice and walkable and the hotel is only about a 10-15 min walk to the Newbury train station. I would definitely stay here again. "

"An amazing stay! The property itself is beautiful and the grounds make for wonderful walks. The room was very spacious and well-maintained. We stayed with two young children, who received warm milk and cookies shortly after check in, brought straight to our room. The staff were lovely. The breakfast buffet was excellent (even if not extremely varied). Overall, highly-recommended and we would gladly return for a longer stay in the future."

"Very charming. We had a lovely dinner in front of a crackling log fire. My partner’s onion soup was the best he’d ever tasted, even better than fancy restaurants in Paris! The bedroom was set apart from the main building so it was nice and quiet and we slept well. We got up early for winter solstice sunrise at Stonehenge intending to be back in time for breakfast, however we were a little late back, but the owner was very accommodating and made sure we still got fed. We would happily stay there...
