"Birds farm is a lovely place to stay for the local Essex or Sussex area. Very quiet in the evenings, despite being just off a busy road. Great facilities, good comfy beds, very warm heating and well supplied cooking facilities. A pool for summer, grounds and a Summer house and a well stocked games room for kids if the weather is bad. "It was an ideal location for visits to local heritage sites and for Colchester. Room clean and comfortable, although a small chair would have been helpful for eating breakfast. Staff very pleasant. Used town car park, free on Sunday and left before charges started at 8am on Monday. Would book again if need to re-visit area. Thanks"

"Fabulous hotel (resort!). Pool is a good size, pool area is relaxing although a bit confusing when the ‘reserved’ notices have been left on from the day time. Peaceful area, quiet. Restaurant- staff are phenomenal (had breakfast and 3 course meal), very attentive. Go down early for breakfast- when not busy the food isn’t turned around very quick so can be a bit dry. "
