Avoid hurricane season if at all possible. We were there for a week and did not see the sun once. The island was getting almost 5 inches of rain a day.

The people are friendly but seemed surprised when tipped. I think it is not part of their culture.

I would definitely stay here again. The ocean view is like you see in pictures with the gorgeous aqua colors. We felt completely pampered, enjoyed the restaurant with ocean views, beautiful white sandy beach with chairs and palm trees for shade.

We didn't really get outside of the property. There were a few resorts around that also looked beautiful. Bora Bora motu was so incredible. Water crystal clear and warm. Tropical flowers everywhere. We loved it.
"We stayed at the Royal Bora Bora for only one night in between other parts of our trip but should have planned for more nights here. While the pool is small and the fish sandwiches we had at the bar restaurant were awful, the overall resort is charming, a cool Polynesian vibe, great breakfast buffet and family friendly games area near the very nice beach with kayaks available. It is walkable to the famous Matira beach, which was beautiful, and the hotel has fun transportation to town available for guests. We were there in July during the Heiva Polynesian dance competitions, which were amazing to watch. Highly recommend for a quality, reasonably priced stay. "
"The Westin was an amazing hotel to stay at. We had an overwater bungalow which offered privacy and an amazing view. Having our own private pool was a definite added bonus. There were daily activities for us to partake in such as paddle-boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, crafts, and of course the pool. The staff at the Westin made a point to know our names and went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. This was truly an amazing experience! "
"This is the hands down best resort i have ever stayed in. Both The resort and our room is beautiful, not to mention the mind blowing lagoon. Staffs are friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend and we will come back one day for sure."
"I can’t praise this place enough—it’s hands-down the best getaway we've ever had! The property itself is stunning, spacious, and completely one-of-a-kind. The hosts go above and beyond—they’re incredibly kind, helpful, and delightful. Guests can hop on the bikes they provide and enjoy a scenic ride to the beach, or pedal the other direction into town. A note for those with mobility concerns: there’s a short but steep walk up and down the mountain to reach the main road. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s worth keeping in mind. With all that said, if we are to return to Bora Bora we we’ll definitely be coming back here!"
"HospitalityPkus! Stayed one night on a cruise ship getaway to Bora Bora. Owner was awesome as we checked in very late. Non traditional check in, fit for family. Asked our name and took us directly to the room. We chatted and got to know her. Wonderful low key stay!"
