"You could write a book on all the wonderful things about El Picnic. Jochen&Gaby have crafted a serene and beautiful experience with some of the most amazing views of Lake Atitlan. Stellar views, thoughtfully designed rooms, relaxing lounge area, and delicious meals. It's a glamping experience that provides a great hub for checking out the other lake towns. Easy to get around via tuktuk or the ferry. Gaby was also so incredibly helpful and always available for any questions, suggestions or booking help. Jochen is modest about his culinary skills but they were plated beautifully, great portions and above all delicious. The mental recharge you get from the well maintained and beautiful grounds is unparalleled. Only word of advice is that bags with shoulder straps are prefered because there are steps and its easier to climb without rolling luggages. Do yourself the favor and book this amazing retreat with picture perfect views of the lake. "

"Heavily recommended Arca De Noe over the more popular places around the lake. Some reviews here say they could hear Free Cervesa next door, but I couldn’t for my whole stay. It’s very quiet and very beautiful, I never felt like it was over crowded or over booked as other properties on the lake tend to be. Excellent food as well"

"We loved our peaceful stay here. It’s clear that the volunteers really care about guest experience - especially Nicole. Christian was also very helpful and kind throughout our stay - an invaluable asset to the hotel. Be warned that if mobility is an issue, you should not stay here as the cabins are hundreds of stairs from the restaurant. But you are rewarded with beautiful views of the lake - which, in our view, was worth it. Dinner was 150q per night, but it was an amazing three course meal - very worth it! There is free coffee and tea and the coffee was the best we have had on our trip so far in Guatemala. I would definitely stay here again! "

"Despite the error made on the part of Expedia as far as how many rooms we had reserved, the owner gave us the same discount on the third room. He also was very helpful in providing information about the area - restaurants, swimming holes and hiking trails. The kitchen was available to the guest to use as needed as long as you cleaned up afterwards."

"The hotel room was fine. Not at all like was shown in the pictures. Mold in the corners of the room. The bathroom window, which opened out on to a corridor wouldn't lock either. The shower was hot or cold and the room lacked basics like a full length mirror or anywhere to hang clothes. The room had a small private terrace (which was overlooked by someone's bathroom). On the final night, loud music was being played from 2am until 3am. The rooms were very clean. Staff were reasonably friendly and service were available like laundry. The courtyards were pretty and well maintained. The hotel is also located very close to the center, which was nice. "
