"Situated out of town but on excellent bus route the hotel serves as great base for exploring York. Parking available, breakfast lovely but no evening meal - several other places to eat near by"

"Loved the history of this pub. Very clean room, comfortable bed and breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend this place if you're visiting York as close to the river walk and not that far for all the major attractions. Plus, free onsite parking which is very hard to find in York."

"Area was flooded very difficult to get to. Was informed on the morning of travel. We saw the email when we got to York. We would have rebooked, maybe that's why we weren't informed earlier?"

"Rooms good size and very clean. Spa pool facilities very good. Had lunch in the garden was nice food and the service great. Lovely gardens and view to racecourse out the back."

"On entry of the Hex Hotel the car park is a short distance from the hotel entrance, there is no drop off point immediately outside the reception area, eg - if it was raining your items would be quite if not not entirely soaked. My advice is to park up first, sign in at the Hotel Reception and then collect a porters trolley for your luggage from the reception area. However if you are able to carry all your items in one go then great. Staff are friendly, polite and inform you are all the important notices to make your stay pleasing. Our room was a double, parkside, which was so nice to wake upto, it was clean, had all the ammenties required for your stay and I am very particular. However, if you are used to soft towels, please bring your own, these are very rough, in our eyesand the shower is fantastic. On our last night we had an issue with the safe, the number did not work, it continually kept asking for an ecode, at this point we contacted reception and someone came immediately to sort this out. They elementated all possiblities and unfortunately was not able to resolve this, due to be a fault on the safe, so there was 2 options - 1. remain in the room, as we were checking out the following morning, or 2. relocate to another room, but it was nice that the option was available and very apologetic. Excellent stay and would highly recommend."

"Room was not clean someone’s dirty t shirt was in the room with what was supposed to be spare clean pillows but the bag was undone and one pillow had been removed probably by t shirt guy! Carpet was stained in the room and was worse in the corridors. Bathroom floor not washed and someone else’s hairs still on it! Shower floor looked visibly filthy but this is the non slip flooring however it put me off getting in it. Heating system very good and nice that the window opened. I think that dirty t shirt ruined the stay as it was so obviously not properly cleaned which made me feel ill! "

"Pleasant hotel located in a pretty park. Difficult to get to without a car particularlyon a Sunday(I didn't have one) Quiet, clean room with bathroom and excellent large towels. Bath a bit high fir a smaller, older person. Very pleasant staff. Ok breakfast...good choices but cooked food felt it had been sitting for a while."
