George and Abbotsford Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We had a very warm informative welcome. The room was at the back which helped it be quieter when the private parties could be loud when they were on in the function room. It looks as if some updating is happening and needs new window frames and closers. The bed was comfy. Hospitality tray was great. In the bar the staff were great. You were served quickly and they kept the bar tidy. They were very friendly. We had bar sharing plate snack which was amazing. We didn’t have breakfast as not breakfast eaters so can’t comment about that.
We loved our stay and everything about the hotel."
"Room was really spacious and quiet, with an enormous comfy bed. Good selection of teas in the room. Bicycles were locked away. Really good selection for cooked breakfast.
The only thing we didn't like was that the shower was in the bath but this didn't detract from the rest of the stay and we would definitely stay here again."
"Light bright rooms, overlooking fields with castle & sea in the distance. Plenty of parking at front of building. Sraff extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice both cold & cooked. There is an onsite cafe adjouning hotel which was ideal. They served hot & cold dishes, variety of sandwiches, cakes, puds etc. It is open 24/7 & used by passersby on A1.
Very central for trips to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne etc.
We would definitely recommend & will be making a return jorney for sure as still lots to explore. "
"A great base for walking or cycling. Friendly helpful staff. We had a twin room which was comfortable and had everything we needed. The set up works really well as the rooms are separate from the Inn with an entrance for residents to access the restaurant for meals. I would certainly recommend a stay. "
"Nice pub with standard rooms. In nice location, central and easy to find. Easy and friendly check in, nice cooked breakfast too. Beds comfy. Shower was a little small. Whilst they didn't have anywhere to store bicycles indoors overnight, we were able to lock them under shelter in the tucked away Car Park at the back. Overall ideal for our one night stay."
"A really well run hotel and a pleasure to stay in. We overnighted on our way back from a tour in Scotland and were very impressed it outshone other hotels on our trip and was great value for money. The food offerings were really good too. We will definitely return. "
