It would be great if the fantastic breakfast was served from 6am in the weekend so that we can enjoy this AND get into the skiing area when it opens (1h drive)."

Service was excellent and so was dinner at the a la carte restaurant; I may even say I had the best meals by far during my 1 week in Switzerland.
While the surrounding area is relatively quiet, location of the hotel is just a short walk from Gonten station which takes you to Appenzell town within 15 minutes.

The breakfast buffet was also very good, and the location of the hotel was perfect. Just a couple meters from the bus stop, but also near a few spots for dinner and/or drinks.
