La Catedral
La Catedral neighborhood pulses around Murcia's stunning Gothic-Baroque cathedral with its soaring 93-meter bell tower. Wander pedestrian-only cobblestone streets that reveal hidden plazas and centuries-old churches. Plaza Cardenal Belluga dazzles visitors with the colorful Bishop's Palace and modern Moneo Annex. Medieval stone walls frame every picture-perfect view in this historic district. Traditional tapas bars and cafés line the ancient streets, serving paella and local wines at outdoor terraces. Boutique hotels occupy converted historic buildings where stone walls and courtyards transport you through time. The entire area is wonderfully walkable, with tram stops nearby connecting you to the wider city when your feet need a break.

Nearby Saurines de la Torre Golf Resort provides additional options for those looking to perfect their swing in tranquil settings. Family-run restaurants serve hearty Murcian dishes at prices that won't break the bank. The neighborhood's cream and terracotta buildings sit peacefully among olive groves and agricultural fields, creating a tranquil escape just outside Murcia. Morning walks through wide tree-lined streets come with the soundtrack of distant roosters and the scent of orange blossoms in spring. Family-run tapas bars serve hearty regional dishes at wallet-friendly prices, though they follow traditional siesta hours. Vacation rentals and guesthouses provide comfortable, affordable alternatives to city hotels. While public transportation is limited, having a car lets you easily explore both the peaceful countryside and Murcia's vibrant center.

El Carmen

The neighborhood centers around the historic train station, making it perfect for travelers planning day trips across Spain. Cultural gems like the Cuartel de Artillería and Museum of Science and Water provide authentic experiences away from tourist crowds. Family-run restaurants serve traditional Murcian fare alongside North African eateries with tagines and couscous. "Excellent location and great value"
LOS 36 BY GRUPO CCOMMO
"Great location and superb communication with the hotel via WhatsApp. They were able to accommodate our early check in request and additional bedding for the kids. Lovely little roof top with loungers and a splash pool to cool off in. Very smart decor and wonderful balcony. Kitchen also well equipped and a brilliant shower! Would definitely recommend for couples and families."
Hesperia Murcia Centro
"Excellent location, incredible and friendly service, especially for the price. Sophia at check in was outstanding. Only downside was parking but the hotel offers a reduced rate."
Dña Monse Hotel Spa & Golf
"I stay here approximately 4-5 times a year and I keep coming back because I love it, very friendly staff, beautiful views from top floor with gorgeous pool. Fantastic cocktails and food and spotlessly clean rooms and other areas in hotel too."
Hotel Cetina Murcia
"Perfect location 1 minute walk from cathedral. Lovely room with Aircon. Comfortable bed and larger walkin shower. All complimentary toiletries. Good hairdryer and straighteners. Tea and coffee mini fridge in room. We had a terrace too. Breakfast was good plenty to choose from. The only they I didn't like it was freezing in the breakfast room would of put a jacket on if I had one and this is august"
Hotel Nelva
"Lovely hotel, reasonably priced lunch menu, great pool area with bar and plenty of sunbeds and seating. Well positioned on the edge of the city. Probably a 20 minute walk into town lots of bars , restaurants and shops on the way. Would recommend walking via the Plaza Circular. We used a Bolt to get to the Centro Commercial Nueva Condomina shopping complex which is well worth a visit if the weather is either baking hot or a bit iffy! Some nice places to eat in the evening, we chose a couple of places either side of the cathedral and they’re happy if you’re there for drinks or food. All in all a lovely clean hotel and a great place to stay for a long weekend away from the usual haunts. Be prepared to use your translate/phrase book as it’s very authentic with limited English speakers."
