Beneath medieval towers that lean like tipsy professors, Bologna's terracotta skyline glows amber at sunset. The Piazza Maggiore buzzes with students from the world's oldest university, debating philosophy over plates of perfect tortellini. Climb the precarious wooden stairs of Torre Asinelli for views that explain why they call this 'La Rossa.' The city unfolds beneath 40 kilometers of porticoes – now UNESCO-listed – where locals have strolled protected from rain since the Middle Ages. In the Quadrilatero market, vendors offer mortadella with the reverence others reserve for fine art. Don't miss the unfinished façade of San Petronio Basilica or Neptune's fountain, where the sea god's proportions were strategically reduced to avoid offending papal sensibilities.
"Very comfortable, clean, modern hotel. Also very quiet in the night.
Also, the staff are very nice.
Easy to walk into the hotel, simply across the train station and then it’s enjoyable to walk and explore downtown. . "
"The hotel is very clean with spacious rooms and bathroom. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
We didn’t quite like the beds as they were two narrow and the mattresses were hard to our personal taste. Otherwise everything was lovely."
"Decent size room, nice toiletries and the slippers were a nice touch. I appreciated being able to access my Netflix account easily. I especially liked the pod coffee machine in the room as well as kettle, sensible size cups and plentiful supply of tea-bags. The breakfast offerings were varied and included fruit and cereal as well as the standard cooked options. The bar area on the first floor was welcoming and the free tapas was another nice touch. Overall, a very nice experience. Very nice staff."
"This is an absolutely amazing hotel, and we will absolutely be returning here (for a longer stay!) next time we are in Bologna.
Pick this hotel and you will have a wonderful visit!!! "
