What a wonderful stay, this location is off the beaten path for foreigners but it is such a hidden gem. It had an onsen, free drinks within a time limit, restaurant on premise, a show by performers every night, a beautiful garden and yukatas to borrow. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. This appears to be the best choice among the several hotels near the Matsue train station. It’s across the street from the station and you can use an underground passageway to get to the hotel. The hotel has a large lobby, easy check in and well supplied rooms. It’s doubtful that the other hotels have such a good breakfast as the Matsue Excel. There’s a wide variety of well prepared Japanese and Western breakfast items to start your day.
