Perfect hotel for our stay in Hakone!
The check in was easy and they not only held our bags until check in (5pm), but when we got back they had taken them to our rooms!
They provide face masks, eye masks, facial products, and hair products free of charge.
The bus stop is right across the street and the train station is a five minute walk.
Our only complaint was lack of a breakfast option because everything around is closed in the morning until 11 am. Wasn’t a huge deal as we just hoarded...
This was my first trip to Japan, I had to make some last minute itinerary changes and came upon Dormy Hot Springs. The room was a little smaller than I expected - by traveling solo I needed a clean comfortable space, this was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful to an American who spoke no Japanese. The breakfast buffet was exceptional plus to the stay.
Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.
Negatives first - this hotel is abit out the way, so if you plan on going, it might be worth more than a day trip/more than one night stay. The arcad/entertainment rooms are very dated and could use some investment. Maybe opt for a lake view, we chose Fuji but as it was cloudy it wasn’t the best view in the world. That’s it....

Susukinohara Ichinoyu was a lovely treat for us! Hakone was so different from the frenetic energy in Tokyo. There were many other resorts in the area, but were unable to accommodate our group of 17.
