Our room at the Alamo was old and very tired, curtains falling down, torn bedspreads, loose tiles, mould in bathroom. Clean otherwise. Beds comfy, water hot.
main issue is with the management. Booked online and like most did not read the full list of terms and conditions until arrival. So after 8 hours of driving for a golf weekend to be confronted by a window open 6 inches, forced to wear a mask outside, forced to accept a quite draconian list of Ts&Cs to gain access to the room. No other vacancies in town. Basically any transgression of these conditions was met with threats of expulsion or police involvement. Have read of the reviews on other sites and you'll get the idea. The wife of the manager appears quite lovely but her husband appears not to fully grasp the concept of hospitality.
I know that ourselves and other golfers who travelling to Nyngan for the weekend have stayed at the Alamo for the very last time.
The whole feeling was more like a school camp or even a managed correctional facility....all for $170 per night.
I wish this couple well but................
