Not how it looks like in the photos. Exterior is from another building, I guess nearby. Probably using it to attract people, false advertising.

2/10 Poor

Never again.

Place is run down and not clean. Very very over priced we were £311 for 2 nights and the room pretty much like your mums spare bedroom. Never saw a cleaner once. No fresh towels etc. goggle states that breakfast is included within your stay at Murphy’s restaurant however this is not the case and not included in the price. Rooms are dated. The bed is sore to sleep in, the springs stick out of the mattress making it very uncomfortable. The WiFi doesn’t work and signal on tv is pretty bad unable to watch anything. I will not be returning to this hotel and I would never recommend this to anyone. AVOID.

This is a very old building. Very, very tiny rooms. It's not like what i saw in the pictures. It was close to lots of places. The noise was crazy. You don't get to sleep until the party ends. That would be anywhere from 3:30 am to 3:45 am. Then, 45 minutes later, people started showing up to catch their ride for work. But again, what do you expect when you visit Ireland. It was my very first time visiting there. The staff were fine when you had to deal with them.

Really central to all parts of Dublin City. Bed was comfortable.
Irena, 5-night trip

2/10 Poor

Very oudated, no lift, no ice, no AC, rooms next to a boiler with made extremly hot and uncomfortable.
Juan, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

First.. stretchy place. Two.. no lift/elevator. Three.. above a bar so it's extremely noisy, I was not able to sleep at all! Constant noise throughout the entire night. Four.. extremely outdated. The amount we paid for this place is ridiculous! Almost $200! No way I would ever stay here. Spend the extra money and stay in the place behind this place called academy plaza. So much better!!! I would never stay in this place alone

Great stay for a low price

Before my trip I had read some of the reviews on here and was somewhat apprehensive about my upcoming stay. Overall I was, however, pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious; I was travelling with two other friends and we got a double bed each in a triple room. The room was clean and in good overall condition. The hotel was in a good location, close to a tram stop and easy to access public transport to the airport etc. It was useful having the 24hr reception and felt secure. As others' have noted there was some noise from the street, but this didn't really affect us too much and were still able to sleep okay. Also the room was quite warm, but we stayed during one of the UK heatwaves, so this was unavoidable without air conditioning. I think, based on the price paid and based on the fact it is (at the time of writing this review) a 1 star hotel, it was very good value for money. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, so if you are looking for lots of amenities then perhaps stay at a higher rated property, but the Gate Hotel is more than suitable for a budget friendly place to stay for a few nights.

Not to bad
Muhammad, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Tiny bathroom, old building charm

The hotel and room were really cute, and the decor was kind of quirky. The noise from the bar next door and the street was very audible, though. And the bathroom was the size of a postage stamp - you had to sit sideways on the toilet.

No elevator. The staff was nice.

Cost effective

Clean room, big enough and cost effective for what it is
Ian, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

First the staff is super friendly and helpful. The place is an old fashion hotel of 50 years ago (building is about 200 years old). Rooms are efficient and have plenty of tea/Coffee available. Though no breakfast is served, but a place nearby serves breakfast. Close to the center of town. The street is rather unsafe with dopers around. We had one that annoyed us following us around.
Chris, 3-night trip

No free parking as advertised on Expedia.
Crystal, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Very good location. However did not know it backs onto a bar and a night club down stairs. A bit noisy until about 3 am each night. The hotel is clean; very convenient and walking distance from everything. We liked the location. Staff were helpful and friendly and upfront about not doing service every day. I would recommend this hotel if you don’t mind the noise.
Yvonne, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

The room was fine but on a sketch street. Lots of garbage and street people. The major issue was no elevators,

10/10 Exceptional

Would definitely stay again

From the outside and hallways no it doesnt look great but the room was big, clean and had everything we needed. More milk tea and coffee you normally get other places. The staff were excellent .. very friendly and helpful. If you have mobility problems then no dont stay here as there are stairs and no lifts and it is loud from bar downstairs but doesnt bother me, great location ... would i stay again?? I absolutely would and will thank you
Sorcha, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Stayed her for St Patrick’s day and it was so expensive for a low quality hotel. Right above a club which was so loud and loud right next to an outdoor bar. Very noisy. The room was pretty big which was nice though.
