We had a great 2 nights at the Shady Lady. The room was very Asian in red! The step down from the bed in the middle of the night is awkward. The owners are delightful to share the sunset and wine with. I loved watching the peacocks. And their 6a alarm wasn’t unbearable. If you are looking for something unusual this is the place for you.

Jennifer and Nigel are absolutely the best bed and breakfast hosts in the industry! They are organized, kind, gracious and a lot of fun! Our delicious hot breakfasts both mornings were the perfect start to our days exploring Death Valley National Park. A unique place to stay. Eclectic antique furnishings were fun. We enjoyed soaking in our private heart-shaped hot tub. The host suggested stargazing out behind the property, and the stars were great. Great collection of books in the parlor and dining room. Peacocks wandering about are fun. Our host was warm and friendly, the breakfast was large and tasty, and we enjoyed talking to other guests. I guess technically it is in Beatty, but it is about 30 minutes north of the town center.

Shady lady is a hidden gem for those looking for a place with character and soul and great hospitality and quaint rooms. It’s a breath of fresh air from the usual sterile motel 6 experience. If you like animals, there are cats and dogs and peacocks, yes peacocks! And not too far from death Valley.
