Axiom is a great little bolt hole in such a prime San Francisco location. It’s steps to BART, a breezy 10 minute walk to the Financial District and SoMa, and, best of all, right next to the iconic Powell cable car turnaround.
The rooms are a bit spartan but spotless with comfy beds, pod espresso machines, extremely fast WiFi, and nice Lather cosmetics. The building is older, however, so most rooms have portable air conditioning units that don’t work consistently. My periodically shut off, leaving the air stagnant and musty. Hallways suffered from this too — they looked clean but smelled a bit off.
Service is wonderful. Requests are handled by text and Ahmed at the front desk is lovely and welcoming.
Common areas are stylish, comfortable, and quiet. While I didn’t get to use it, the gym was surprisingly well appointed given the size of the hotel.
Overall, I’d call Axiom a 3.5 out of 5, but I’m rounding up to 4. It’s no frills spot, but you’re in San Francisco… are you really hanging in your hotel room anyway?
