Simplicity was the key, it was perfect for people that want to hang out most of the time and just spend the night in a comfortable futon :)

The building is dated but very reasonably priced for what you get. Appreciated how close it is to stations and the late night eats

Budget hotel that had the least amount of amenities during our 3 week stay in Japan staying at 4 other hotels. No coffee, Limited water stored in a water jug, tea cups/glass cups. Slept on tatami mats which were not comfortable at all. The tatami mats were shedding and got all over my pants. Bathroom had a strong odour that we couldn’t really get rid of. The inn is located right next to the metro so can definitely hear the train come thru each time. Next time would choose a different place to stay.

One of the most forginer-friendly hotels!
Nakagawa inn is one of a kind, its staff are very welcoming and helpful, and if you call in advance they can allow you to come in well before opening hours. I loved my stay at Nakagawa Inn, and I hope to return there again soon!

Comfortable stay
Stayed 4 night, minimal contact with staff which we liked. Welcoming and respectful staff. Close to a metro station and many tasteful restaurants on the same street. 4/5 stars

Our stay was great. Our luggage was transferred and waiting for us when we arrived. Check in was easy. The room is exactly like shown - very basic but comfortable after a long day of exploring. The futons were very comfortable.
Great location close to stations and shopping. The staff was friendly.
Height of the bathroom door was the only issue. Otherwise if basic or traditional is what you are looking for, we recommend!

My stay here was just okay. My futon and duvet were stained yellow and there was mildew on the sink of the bathroom. Even though they were “clean”, receiving stained linens was a bit upsetting. There were many holes in the shoji paper which were patched up a bit haphazardly. The saving grace was the location- very close to everything you want to see in Akihabara. Across the street is an artisan market where you can buy unique goods. If you only eat Halal there is a great halal restaurant as well. For the price, I feel you can do better.

This was the most affordable place I've been able to find that can accommodate 4 large people in one room with tatami mats. It has it's own bathroom, closet space, and necessary amenities. The hotel was within walking distance to Okachimachi station and Akihabara so it's a bit of a hidden gem. It has a genkan at the entrance so it feels like a studio size apartment. One thing to get used to is sleeping on the futon on the floor, but it is thick enough to sleep normally. The staff can speak English really well so it'll be easy to get assistance. It's located next to a lot of restaurants so there's always something different to eat. There's also plenty of artisan stores to buy unique fashionable clothing and accessories. This is one hotel I'd recommend for a small group. The rooms are actually bigger than the picture show so there'll be plenty of room for a family.

Nice for a short term stay. Room is a good size for Tokyo and it can easily fit 4 people.
Its very noisy in the hotel, walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours very clearly.
Bathroom is very small compared to other hotels in tokyo but its clean and manageable.
Good location and easy to walk.
