Great place to stay. Lodge rooms have a gorgeous view of the Dunes - - nothing manmade between you and the Dunes except 1 road. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. The main bed was very comfortable. The pullout bed was much less comfortable but it's OK for a kid. We stayed here before the restaurant opened for the season, but they sell pizzas at the front desk. They also rented us sand sleds, and your rental is good for 24 hrs. My only tip is to bring earplugs for sleeping. The wall AC/heater unit kicks on and off throughout the night. Will absolutely stay here again next time we're visiting the Dunes.

The best thing about the lodge is its proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is by far the lodging closest to the park. Scenery is gorgeous. There are very few dining options near the lodge. Pizza was available for purchase from the lodge office until 6 or 7pm.
