Big rooms in a charming old Villa. Services are limited. The neighborhood is a bit loud at night, and my room got a bit too hot. There’s a small AC unit, but it might not be enough for the space. The breakfast was good a plenty for one person. They were nice, kind, and helpful.

Good location for restaurants and visiting Herculaneum in Ercolano. Short train journey to either Naples or Pompeii and small book able tour coach leaves the train station each morning to visit Vesuvius weather permitting. Very comfortable accommodation with breakfast and fully recommend for a unique Italian experience.

Villa Durante is a lovely old villa that’s well located for Herculaneum. The room we stayed in was lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to check in early too. We stayed in the San Felice superior double room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, though the bathroom is small and there is insufficient room for towels. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were polite and friendly, but with very limited English. The villa is about 10 min walk from the Herculaneum archaeological site. If not driving, it is best to arrive by taxi as the villa is difficult to find and the route from the train station is dirty and uneven for wheeled suitcases (enter the courtyard at Corso Resina 310, turn left, take the stairs, 3rd door on the right, phone the hotel to gain entry). Unfortunately, the large polished wood staircase makes the downstairs seating area rather cramped and uncomfortable, with very little space for personal items. The staircase was also rather slippery; in fact we each fell on it when visiting the bathroom downstairs at night. My husband still has the bruises!

The hotel is a small b&b using a few rooms from a historic villa. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was excellent. The car park onsite is very convenient. Do not stay at a airport hotel. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for convenience to the Naples Airport and a unique experience. The hotel is also conveniently located near the herculaneum ruins.

Beautiful historic Villa near Herculaneum

My husband and I stayed in Ercolano at Villa Durante for 2 nights on our vacation through Italy. Therese was a wonderful hostess - so kind, gracious and thoughtful. The property is a beautifully restored 18th century villa within 10 minutes of Herculaneum. The train station is a 15-minute walk, and there are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. After visiting Naples for dinner, I was glad that we stayed outside of the city. Ercolano feels safe and the people are so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our time there.
