Ariel and his dog Musica are wonderful hosts. Arial took the time to drive us around the town. Located next to a bubbling brook, his place is creatively decorated and has a lot of open spaces to relax. It is within walking distance from the start of the La India Dormida trail. We stayed with Ariel for one night. If felt more like we were visiting a friend than a business.

The owner treated me as a friend giving me good advice and any possible assistance, for instance bicycles are available free of charge. He keeps a friendly dog welcoming every guest without any harm. This place is rustic but the host is so welcoming and it's well located a few minutes from the start of a popular hike. You can use bikes for free to get into the town centre. Communal kitchen is a bit cluttered but handy and has everything you need. Musica the Golden Retriever might just be the best dog in the world!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was one of the highlights of our time in Panama. Ariel was so friendly; he made us feel like family. He’s also a true musician. After hiking, we very much enjoyed our evenings talking and playing music together. He gave us bikes to ride and drove us around town. We also enjoyed spending time with musica and gato (his friendly dog and cat). We spent some time lounging on the hammocks enjoying the breeze as my wife read one of the many books outside. The room was as shown in the picture, basic but clean. If you are looking to stay at a unique place with a host who is authentically hospitable, listen to (jam with) a great musician, and want to learn about life in Panama, I highly recommend La Casita De Don Daniel.

Nice but not perfect

The location and property is great with really friendly and attentive staff. I wish I had nothing but positive comments to leave but there we're a couple of issue. The first is sort of minor, they had some really silly rules. No coolers allowed, I didn't even have a cooler but I never heard of a hotel prohibiting coolers. The second, no shoes inside the room. Since when does a hotel tell me I can't wear shoes into the room? As for my main issue, I left with countless insect bites after sleeping in one of the rooms. I cannot tell if they are mosquitoes or bed bugs but my legs and arms are covered with them.
