I mean for the price this is a steal. The rooms were huge and clean. We really enjoyed the included breakfast. As well, the rooftop bar. They have different events and great music.

I felt welcomed and at home at this hostel, even though I only stayed for a week. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they always worked very hard. Every day and night there was some fun event to attend, whether it was music, trivia, dancing, or trips to the cenotes. I was sad to leave and I look forward to returning!

Nearby road construction is a pain but the Hostel itself is in a great condition. You have to compete with construction trucks and Taxis for parking spots.

it’s a party place. First and foremost. It’s super social; the hangout areas are very cool and it’s a nice vibe. Perfect to meet people etc...the rooms are clean and plenty of space in the shared accom, it nails all hostel needs and more however... If you are looking for rest then book somewhere else. Really.

2/10 Poor

The hotel it self is ok but the rooms needs maintenance the sheets/towels were dingy I had mold in my bathroom on my last night there I ordered some wings from the bar they give me raw wings when I brought it to the bar manager attention he didn’t understand why I was mad about them giving me raw chicken I told him I wanted a refund he kept telling he couldn’t he would make them cook them over I explained to him I no longer wanted anything to eat from there he finally gave me a refund and because he thought I didn’t know how to count there currency he only give me back half of what I paid and I was scared to go back and forth with him I just took he made me feel very uncomfortable

Quite disappointing

The hostel it self it’s ok, you can meet people, and the location is comfortable. But as an overall experience we had too many obstacles to have a good time. we stayed first in the dorm of 12 because we didn’t have a booking, and had beds next to the door, was quite impossible to sleep. You could hear the bathrooms noices too.the air con was freezing and the is no blankets. Then private room hot water didn’t work most of the time and we didn’t get a nice treat when we asked, the said we can come shower at the Recepcion/lobby if we wanted, almost like making us a favor. Is too noisy to sleep, and bathroom has no ventilation. The worst was the front desk, check in and check out. Mostly anyone was nice. Specially a girl that didn’t look at my eyes, replied syllabus. So much trouble for everything! And my friends are super kind to say things. I was very disappointed cos I brought my friends here. I wouldn’t come back at all. As a private is still 100 dollars it doesn’t meet the expectations of fun hostels. Oh, and friends from overseas tried to arrange greeting or a paid breakfast to my room and the didn’t get a replay after 4 days, after my bday. Girls at the breakfast were very kind. Wouldn’t like to put them in the same bag!

Hotel was very nice, rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Location is good. Social activities were very nice. A grab and go breakfast option would have been nice. Hotel was a little loud at night

10/10 Exceptional

I had a lovely stay at Mayan Monkey Tulum! The breakfast was generous, fresh and always delicious, which was such a great way to start each day. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I’d especially like to thank Emmanuel, who kindly moved me to a quieter room when I asked – I really appreciated the care and quick response. As expected from a hostel, there’s a lively atmosphere with music and a DJ in the evenings (usually until midnight), but it was never a problem for me. It’s all part of the fun vibe, and the bar staff were always smiling and welcoming. What stood out to me most was how personal the experience felt. I was only there for five nights, but many of the staff remembered my name and even my breakfast order – a small gesture that made a big impact. They also offered free guacamole and margarita classes, which were a fun bonus. My private room genuinely felt more like a hotel than a hostel – clean, stylish, and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation. The location is central, and they offer bike rentals and paid excursions, which makes exploring Tulum really easy. I would absolutely recommend Mayan Monkey to anyone visiting Tulum – whether you’re looking to meet new people or just enjoy a few days in a vibrant and welcoming space.

First off I will never stay in Tulum, Mexico again!! The federali police are everywhere!! You can’t even enjoy the beach in peace! The hostel is about 40 minutes away from the airport. Ride the bus its alot cheaper than a taxi or anything else! The bus is about $12 compared to the $50-$60 the taxis will try to charge you. You will catch the bus into town then catch a taxi from the bus station to the hostel which will be about another $12. The hostel has so many steps to climb with no elevators! I hated it! It is NOT disabled friendly! So if you have issues with walking I wouldn’t do it! I had to carry my luggage up and down leaving and coming. An absolute nightmare! I rented a scooter for a couple days to get around. They have tons of rental places to choose from so choose wisely! The beaches are far so you will need some form of transportation. But the beaches suck right now because they stink really bad because of the seaweed. They say this time of the year its like that. People will try to cheat you out your money if you don’t understand spanish or pesos so be aware! The hostel is mostly for a younger crowd. Book at your own risk! It is really clean! The housekeepers are wonderful!
