We had reserved a non-smoking room months ago, but were forced to take a smoking room because it was the only one left and they were full for the night. The clerk offered to let us check out the room before paying. The door to the room was open, and there were dirty towels on the sidewalk. It was after 11 pm, and we were exhausted, so we had to take the room. We also had received an email around 8 pm asking about our check-in experience, but we had not checked in yet. Just before 10 pm, we received an email stating our reservation had been cancelled. When we called, we were told our credit card did not go through. We were assured our room was still available, and we could provide a different card. We were never offered compensation for having to take a smoking room, not having our room open, and the towels were still on the sidewalk when we left. There were also discarded tires stacked in the parking lot.
We had stayed at this hotel two weeks prior and had a positive experience.
