The building is absolutely amazing. Generally, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great, central location.
The room was ok - we could tell that it was a little dated but still very nice. The bed and bedding were amazing and extremely comfortable.
Attention to detail with some of the cleaning was lacking, especially in the shower. The shower head was obviously not cleaned regularly as it had orange build-up on the rubber spray nozzles. The sealant around the shower also need some attention. Apart from this, the room was very clean.
We were disappointed with the concierge who had very kindly booked a restaurant for us..... only for us to arrive at said restaurant to find that they had only booked the bar and not the actual restaurant; the restaurant was fully booked and we had to resort to eating at the hotel restaurant.
This is where it gets tricky...... my partner is gluten intolerant and when in contact with gluten a raised rash appears. The matradee had asked about any allergies when he was sitting us at the table and he seemed to make a note on his iPad. However, this allergy information didn't seem to be communicated to the restaurant team or indeed the kitchen. As such, when the food was served, we had to double-check that the food did not contain any gluten. Upon investigation, the food DID contain gluten. Disappointing for a 5 star restaurant. The restaurant staff seemed inexperienced - dropping culturally constantly and just very slow and weak service
