There were a few disappointing aspects to our stay. The room appeared to not have been dusted properly, with spiderwebs along the curtains and thick dust layers on the photos above the bed. The bed was found with no mattress protector and a sheet that didn’t even fit the bed which also had holes and dirt marks. There was only shampoo in the bathroom and the coffee machine was broken. When asking at reception for the bed to be remade and raising the issues found, there was no apology and quite a blunt response of “I’ll call housekeeping”. Found in the room after that were loose papers of what seemed to be gas safety reports, all which seem to just be photocopied and one had inappropriate language on it.
The food at breakfast was fine, but the lunch that was part of a “Spa Delight Package” was mediocre with cold, dry cooked chicken that we worry was the reason for my partners food poisoning.
The spa itself was disappointing but the massages were good. Only after booking, in small print, was the information that the pool is also shared- very regularly- with baby and children’s swimming lessons, in what world is that relaxing? The gym above the massage rooms provided not-so soothing banging noises of people chucking weights in the gym. When booking the spa, there are no time options available so you get whatever they slot you in as, for example my partner was at 12pm and I at 3pm, meaning no other plans were able to be made in the day as there were no other slots available.
