Reception

Comfortable stay ... only problem was that the confirmation email was misleading!! There is a manned reception so no need to call to make arrangements as in email!!

2/10 Poor

Unacceptable

The hotel cancelled my booking the night before I was supposed to come and stay and then still charged me the full price even though I was to pay on arrival + I didn’t actually go to the hotel

Don’t use OYO ever

Booked her weeks in advance. 24 hours before I was due to arrive I was moved to an OYO miles away in Warrington. Shambolic organiasation. New place was a dump. No reason given, no attempt to apologise. Absolutely joke

8/10 Very good

clean and comfortable

I found many positives in staying at OYO Lakeside Hotel. Clean. Comfortable. Good bathroom. the only criticism I have is the noise from other rooms. Sadly I could hear people opening and closing their doors and the sound of people walking about overhead. This really spoiled an otherwise excellent stay.

God bless the receptionist, the hotel needs her.

Very friendly and efficient receptionist. No TV aerial cable in room. Promptly replaced by reception. Smell from sewers in bathroom. Loose toilet seat and tap on wash basin. Toilet paper so cheap your finger go through. No soap provided. Used towel in bathroom and only 1 clean one provided. Dirty cup mark on bedside table in covid period! Bathroom waste bin not empty. No waste bin in room. Insufficiently thick pillows and only 1 each. Having frequently stayed in similar price and cheaper hotels throughout Europe I can say this is the worst.

Stay was great we went to see Sir Tom Jones in Haydock and Chris the lovely lady on reception was extremely helpful as I hadn’t printed my tickets out and she very kindly did them for me she also helped a few other guests with taxis etc lovely lady

Room was smelly

Room smelt of stale cigarette smoke and had tainted the carpet, curtains and soft furnishings. I reported this on first evening was given an air freshener but problem was not solved so went out and got some fabreeze which helped a little. But should have been up to me to sort. Bed was comfortable and clean however and staff were friendly.

Shocking!!

Whilst travelling to the hotel which was a seven hour drive, I received a phone call to inform myself and my friends the rooms where no longer available over the weekend. The gentleman who spoke to me was rude and gave no reason to this. Our journey up was then ruined by trying to book an alternative hotel which cost a total of £750 for two rooms. I am absolutely disgusted in the service and will not be looking to stay in this chain again. DO NOT BOOK IT!!

Oyo Hotel

It's the worse experience I've ever had got there with family only to find my reservation had been cancelled by the hotel disgusting

Stale Smell

The hotel is tired and needs a refurb. There are stains on carpets and chairs in the rooms and the rooms and corridors smell of stale cigarettes. The rooms were clean, but just dated and tired. The bed was large and comfy and the sheets were clean. No soap in the dispensers in the bathroom either...luckily we'd brought our own! The staff, however, were lovely, and very friendly. But we wouldn't stay here again due to the bad stale cigarette smell.
Carole, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

They gave my room away leaving me stranded with two children. Blaming me for cancelling the booking. Not helpful at all no hotels in area free, so had no option to drive a further 4 hours late at night to get home. Not impressed at all.
Joyce, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

No toilet roll in the bathroom. Total cleanliness of the place 0. Cobwebs on the windows in the stairs. No handle on the our door. No lock in the bathroom. Stains on the curtains and the mirror. Could do with total clean and paint But staff were great 10/10

Stay away

Parts of hotel appeared to be housing emergency accom for local people. Lots of shouting inside and outside. Constant smell of young people smoking substances coming up through windows. Corridors smelt dirty.

Since the hotel as switched to OYO the property has deteriated and is in need of a full docoration, and refurb. Staff are courtious and helpful. There appears to be long term residents in some rooms.

Pleasant 1 night stay

Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Hotel is slightly dated but it is perfectly in line with the cost.

Give it a miss

The staff were brilliant couldn’t fault them. Room wasn’t cleaned very well but the bed was comfy. A few undesirables were staying, causing trouble screaming and shouting outside. Even abusing a taxi man. The place is not so bad but won’t be staying again as since found out the homeless, people coming out of prison etc are housed there. Didn’t feel very safe. Shame

1 night stay

Comfortable bed and good size room. Room was clean. Corridors were filthy and reception not that friendly
1-night trip

2/10 Poor

A budget hotel. So I set my expectation low. But lower them more. Stale smoke smell in the room. Shower not working and no plug for the bath. Paper thin walls so you heard every door on the corridor open and close. Quiet time after 10 was a joke. It was 3 am before the party in one room.stopped.

Not too shabby

I was left homeless and this was the cheapest hotel that I could find. I was concerned about whag state the hotel was going to be but undet the circumstances, I can't fault it really. I was given the wrong room type on arrival but the guys on reception sorted this for me in seconds. Very helpful and friendly staff. And considering the price the room was fine. The beds where comfortable, nice view of the Dam from the back, spacious. Only thing that maybe bothered me was the amount of noise in a morning and night. But that was to be expected and the least of my worries tbh. If I was to become homeless again 😅🙃 I would come back here.

Overnight in St Helen’s Won’t Stay Again

Hotel was ok. Room has a peculiar smell of tobacco looked like someone’s had a crafty cig out of the window, unfortunately toilet seat broken and vomit stain on carpet was quite off putting Very loud guests shouting and doors banging all night and that was on a Monday!! A pity because it could be a good place as it’s right next to a nature reserve but looks to have lost its way since its Premier Inn days, Good point it’s next to a major road link.
