Welcoming, spotlessly clean, and with a perfectly cooked breakfast. Nice bar too. A great alternative to the blah chain experience.

Slightly unusual but great place to stay!

This place isn't a hotel in the traditional sense, more like a bar / restaurant mainly open for 'hotel' guests but don't let that put you off, it's a great place to stay. Very friendly atmosphere, staff can't do enough to help, food is excellent and rooms are quiet and comfortable. It's my preferred place to stay when I'm in the area.

Quaint village stays

Charming little village location, hotel was quaint with lots of rooms, exits and entrances. Food was good, choice of beers n spirits, service excellent with fair prices. Well worth a night stop over. Richard, the owner engaged me in conversation and was very approachable.

8/10 Very good

Our room was in a two suite annex, the other room was occupied by my brother in law. The rooms aren't large but absolutely sound for a short stop, they are very clean, bed linen and towels were excellent quality, tea coffee and TV (if you're into that stuff) all available. It was very quiet which was appreciated. Breakfast was abundant, juice ,tea, coffee toast and a crackin' full English breakfast plus yoghurt etc etc and some fresh strawberries as a wee treat. Prices were more than reasonable, service was pitched perfectly, attentive but not intrusive. Thank you Richard, we will be back.

2/10 Poor

A three night stay, left after one night. Arrived to find a hotel in part darkness. Kitchen closed, bar closed, no dinner or breakfast available, shown to our room. Heating off. Bear in mind it’s February and it’s 5oC outside and below freezing overnight. Freezing cold room through the night, terrible sleep. Woke to use the shower and find enough pubic hairs in there from the previous guest to knit a jumper, which would have actually come in handy the night before to cope with the cold. Had a meeting at 8.30am so left sharp. Didn’t see any staff, downstairs in darkness and just as cold as our room. Returned 3pm to find heating off and room colder than the night before. Packed our bags. Staff no-where to be seen. Left Found another hotel a few miles away, warm, clean and comfortable, serving breakfast, with a bar and staff! Filled out the ‘contact hotel’ form on Hotels.com app when we left having left the key in the room door. Got a reply apologising and acknowledging the problems listed. Once home sought a refund and were refused on the grounds we didn’t inform staff we had checked out and didn’t hand over the key. A. There were no staff B. There key was left in the door, same place it was when we checked in. Spoke with a few locals who said the hotel has recently been taken over and has fallen apart. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in….. AVOID!
